Coffee Banana Breakfast Smoothie

A morning smoothie with chilled coffee, banana, oats, milk, and a little almond butter.

A Creamy Coffee Banana Smoothie for Busy Mornings

This Coffee Banana Breakfast Smoothie is a quick way to combine your morning coffee and breakfast into one easy drink. It is creamy, lightly sweet, and has just enough coffee flavor to make it feel like a refreshing iced latte blended with a banana smoothie.

The banana gives the smoothie natural sweetness and a smooth texture, while oats and yogurt make it more filling. A spoonful of peanut butter or almond butter adds richness and helps turn this into a satisfying breakfast you can make in just a few minutes.

‍

Ingredients

  • 1 frozen banana
  • 3/4 cup chilled brewed coffee or cold brew
  • 1/2 cup milk, almond milk, or oat milk
  • 1/4 cup rolled oats
  • 1/4 cup plain or vanilla Greek yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon peanut butter or almond butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon honey or maple syrup, optional
  • 1/2 cup ice, optional for a thicker smoothie
  • Pinch of cinnamon, optional

‍

Instructions

  1. Add the chilled coffee and milk to the blender first.
  2. Add the rolled oats, frozen banana, Greek yogurt, nut butter, vanilla, and cinnamon if using.
  3. Add ice if you want a thicker, colder smoothie.
  4. Blend on low speed, then gradually increase to high.
  5. Blend for 45–60 seconds, or until the smoothie is creamy and the oats are fully blended.
  6. Taste and add honey or maple syrup if you want it sweeter.
  7. Pour into a glass and serve immediately.

‍

Blender Tips

For the smoothest texture, use a frozen banana and blend long enough for the oats to fully break down. If your blender has trouble with oats, blend the coffee, milk, and oats for a few seconds first before adding the remaining ingredients.

If you are using a Vitamix, add the liquids first, then the oats, yogurt, nut butter, banana, and ice. Start on low speed and gradually increase to high until the smoothie looks thick and creamy.

For a stronger coffee flavor, use cold brew or strongly brewed coffee. For a milder smoothie, use more milk and slightly less coffee.

‍

Easy Variations

For extra protein, add a scoop of vanilla or chocolate protein powder.

For a mocha version, add 1 tablespoon of cocoa powder.

For a sweeter smoothie, use vanilla yogurt or add a pitted date.

For a dairy-free version, use almond milk, oat milk, or coconut milk and skip the Greek yogurt or use a dairy-free yogurt.

For a thicker smoothie bowl, reduce the milk to 1/4 cup and top with granola, sliced banana, cacao nibs, and a drizzle of peanut butter.
